Volvo Car Australia sales powering: 22 per cent growth in April, EVs powering

Volvo Car Australia powered to 22 per cent growth in April, with sales for the year to date up 8.7 per cent.

Those figures follow on from a record sales year in 2022.

The XC40, recognised in March as the best small luxury SUV in Australia for three years running by Drive, remains the best selling car in its class. With 527 new registrations, the XC40 made up just over half of Volvo Car Australia’s total sales for April.

Meanwhile, sales of all-electric vehicles made up 45.9 per cent of Volvo Car Australia’s total sales for the month. For the year so far, EVs represent 40.8 per cent of VCA’s sales.

Across the broader Australian market, rapid growth of electric vehicle sales continues, up 654 per cent in April versus April 2022 and volumes more than tripling (+214 per cent) for the year to date.

Globally Volvo Cars also notched double-digit growth, with sales for April up 10 per cent, primarily driven by the all-electric XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge.

Production for the seven seater all-electric Volvo EX90 SUV, which has a range of up to 600km*, is now set for first half of next year.

Globally Volvo aims to double the number of cars it produces to 1.2 million annually by mid-decade, with new all-electric models launching every year to power growth.
