I Roll presents a quick guide to the impressive Volvo Car Australia showroom line-up for 2021.
**VOLVO XC90**
The luxury seven-seater SUV evolves with Volvo’s advanced, beautiful and sustainable XC90. First-class comfort is provided for all occupants regardless of which of the three rows they are seated in, while the Inscription trim grade is available with tailored wool blend upholstery as a no-cost sustainable alternative to the standard leather.
A highly flexible interior includes a clever, integrated child booster cushion in the middle row’s centre seat, and all rear seats can be folded to prioritise cargo with a capacity of nearly 1900 litres.
Inscription is one of four trim grades offered in the XC90 range, which also comprises Momentum, R-Design and the Recharge Plug-In Hybrid. Smart technology standard across all models includes head-up display, 360-degree camera, road-sign information, wireless smartphone charging and integration, and adaptive cruise control.
A generous 2400kg braked towing capacity is common to every all-wheel-drive XC90, whether the model is powered by a D5 twin-turbo diesel, T6 supercharged/turbocharged petrol or plug-in hybrid drivetrain.
The Volvo XC90 Recharge Plug-In Hybrid features the range’s most sophisticated drivetrain and most advanced chassis. The combination of supercharged/turbocharged petrol engine and electric motor makes the plug-in hybrid both the fastest and most economical model in the line-up, while the suspension features air springs for a truly elegant ride. Air suspension is available as an option on other models.
**VOLVO XC60**
The XC60 midsize luxury SUV counts the 2018 World Car of the Year and 2018 Wheels Car of the Year among its multitude of awards, achieved through its blend of beautiful Scandinavian craftsmanship, innovative technology, luxurious cabin and comfortable and rewarding driving manners.
Our highly acclaimed SUV is also highly practical, with family-friendly features including child booster cushions cleverly integrated into the outer rear seats and a boot that provides between 468 and 1410 litres of luggage capacity.
Standard features across the Momentum, Inscription, R-Design and Polestar Engineered models are extensive. Technology includes 360-degree camera, wireless smartphone charging, adaptive cruise control with Pilot Assist, and Lane Keep Assist. Convenience features include powered front seats, four-zone climate control (two-zone on Polestar Engineered), hands-free tailgate operation and keyless entry.
From Inscription upwards, the XC60 features a head-up display and heated front seats.
Depending on trim grade, the XC60 matches all-wheel drive with either a turbocharged diesel (D4), turbocharged petrol (T5), supercharged and turbocharged petrol (T6), or plug-in hybrid (T8) drivetrain.
**VOLVO XC40**
The XC40 has established it as one of Australia’s most popular luxury compact SUVs with its city-friendly dimensions, refined on-road manners, and a spacious interior that includes both innovative storage solutions and a generously sized boot.
There’s a wide choice of trim grades, which comprise Momentum, Inscription, R-Design and Recharge Plug-In Hybrid.

The XC40 Recharge Plug-In Hybrid combines a three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor to deliver both strong performance and impressive fuel efficiency.
The XC40’s stand-out standard equipment includes electric driver’s seat, keyless entry, dual-zone climate control with ClearZone multifilter, blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control with Traffic Jam Assist, Active Bending LED headlights, front/rear parking sensors, and smartphone integration and wireless charging.

**VOLVO S60**
The S60 is our luxury sport sedan that redefines what it means to drive. Beyond a driver-centric cockpit, there are selectable driving modes and a sophisticated suspension to either maximise dynamics or comfort. Strong traction and effortless performance are also delivered by a turbocharged petrol engine and all-wheel drive.
The S60 R-Design steps up engagement behind the wheel another notch with Active Damping and a sportier vibe to the cabin presentation.
R-Design also adds extra engine power and torque through Polestar Optimisation, making it the fastest-accelerating model in the range.
Completing the inspiring S60 package are an expressive exterior design complemented by striking wheel designs and an interior rich in detail and premium materials.
**VOLVO V60 CROSS COUNTRY**
The V60 Cross Country will join the Volvo Car Australia range in 2021.
This rugged mid-sized wagon is designed for a broad range of family adventures, featuring an elevated ride height, all-wheel drive, and a specially developed chassis and suspension to enhance its off-road capability.
There’s also hill-descent control and a dedicated Off Road driving mode.
Shaped by more than 60 years of award-winning wagon experience, the V60 Cross Country’s interior epitomises Swedish luxury and, as befitting the wagon body style, is highly versatile. This includes generous boot space that can be further expanded by folding down the 60/40-split rear seats.
A load hatch incorporated into the rear backrest allows longer items to be stored in the V60 even if passengers occupy the outer-rear seats.
