Day or night, Volvo’s intelligent safety assistance technology can help you detect and avoid other vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists and large animals. It does this by first warning the driver then autobraking if the driver fails to react.

If you start drifting across the centre line, there is always a chance of a collision with an oncoming vehicle. Your car is designed to detect this and correct the steering, helping you back to a safer position on the road.

As with all things, nothing can replace the driver, who remains responsible for safe driving at all times.

A grey melange city block textile in charcoal interior comes as standard, with urban grid aluminium décor, a sculpted gear-shift and a tailored sport steering wheel.

Or upgrade to charcoal or blonde accented leather with driftwood décor. The smooth, accented leather has a natural finish. It's durable, comfortable to sit on, easy to clean and ages beautifully. The driftwood décor is a genuine wood inlay shaped by the natural force of water, wind and waves for a touch of crafted Scandinavian luxury.

You can also add enhanced climate options, such as heated front and rear seats – even an electrically heated steering wheel.

The XC40 comes in nine colour choices. Black stone comes as standard. Or you can opt for onyx black, fusion red, thunder grey, fjord blue, silver dawn, bright dusk, crystal white or sage green.

18” 5-spoke silver alloy wheels come as standard, or upgrade to 18″ 5-spoke black diamond cut or 19” 5-Y spoke matt graphite diamond cut wheels.

**Drivetrain**

The XC40 mild hybrid recovers the energy produced when breaking and stores it in a 48kW battery. When this energy is used, fuel consumption is reduced – and every drop helps – while tailpipe emissions are also lowered.

The compact SUV is engineered to deliver smooth take-offs and refined acceleration, making both city and highway journeys more refined.

Powered by a 600W digital amplifier and enabled by 13 hi-fi speakers, including an air-ventilated subwoofer, it harnesses unique sound processing software to optimise the response of each individual speaker as well as the speakers as a system, ensuring they perform in perfect harmony.
