Versus the first five months of 2022, Volvo Car Australia sales are up 8.4 per cent, almost double the broader market growth of 4.3 per cent. The XC40 continues to drive the lion’s share of new registrations.

Meanwhile, Volvo Car Australia’ electric vehicle sales are up 39.6 per cent so far this year, with BEV sales making up 1,974 of a total 4,986 new registrations to the end of May.
Across the Australian market for passenger, SUV and light commercial vehicles, EV sales are up 275 per cent so far this year. EV sales overtook those of hybrid vehicles for the month of May and are now also ahead year to date, with 32,050 EVs sold so far this year versus 29,293 hybrid vehicles.

Volvo Car Australia has committed to sell only EVs by 2026. With the launch of the new EX30 this month and the seven-seater EX90 in production next year, 2024 could well be the year that the Australian business sells more electric vehicles than internal combustion engine models.
