Adaptive cruise control* - symbols and messages
The adaptive cruise control (ACC – Adaptive Cruise Control) helps the driver to maintain an even speed combined with a pre-selected time interval to the vehicle ahead.
Sometimes the adaptive cruise control may display a symbol and/or text message. Here are some examples - follow the recommendation given if appropriate:

The symbol is WHITE | Adaptive cruise control is set to standby mode. | |
Standard cruise control is selected manually. | ||
Set ESC to Normal to enable Cruise | The adaptive cruise control cannot be activated until the Stability system (ESC) has been set in Normal mode. | |
Adaptive cruise control cancelled | The adaptive cruise control has been deactivated - the driver has to regulate the speed himself. | |
Adaptive cruise control unavailable | The adaptive cruise control cannot be activated. This could be due to:

Press brake to hold vehicle + acoustic alarm1 | The car is stationary and the cruise control will release the foot brake to allow the parking brake to take over and hold the car, but a fault in the parking brake means the car will shortly begin to roll.
