Internet connection for OTA software downloads

The car needs to be connected to the internet through its built-in SIM card while an over-the-air (OTA) software update is downloading.

This article is applicable to models with Google built-in.

An internet connection provided by the car's built-in SIM card is required when downloading an OTA update. Downloading via personal SIM or Wi-Fi is currently not supported. Internet connection is no longer needed when the update has downloaded and the installation starts.

 Note

If your car has no internet connection when the installation starts, you will not receive any notifications in the Volvo Cars / Volvo EX30 app. Once the internet connection is re-established, the information will be sent.
