Getting started with the Volvo Cars app

The Volvo Cars app provides access to connected services and functions that make it possible to control your vehicle remotely. If you are using the Volvo Cars app for the first time, there are some steps you need to take to get started. The steps vary depending on vehicle model and model year, so be sure to read the section that applies to your vehicle.

Downloading the Volvo Cars app

The Volvo Cars app is available for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch as well as Android phones. You can download it for free from the Apple App Store or Google Play. The app is updated regularly, so make sure that you have the latest version on your phone.

 Note

Make sure that you have downloaded the Volvo Cars app. The Volvo EX30 app can only be paired with Volvo EX30 vehicles.

Volvo ID

You will need a Volvo ID to log in to the Volvo Cars app. If you don't already have one, open the Volvo Cars app and select the option to create a new Volvo ID or go to volvoid.eu.volvocars.com/Account/ and follow the instructions.

For security reasons, two-factor authentication will be implemented later this year. This means that when you sign in, you will also need to enter a code that is sent to you via SMS1 or e-mail.

Pairing the Volvo Cars app with your vehicle

Before you can start using remote Volvo Cars app functions, such as lock status and climate features, you need to pair the app with your vehicle.

User profile in the vehicle

You can use your own user profile and connect it to your key so that your Volvo is fully customized every time you get into the vehicle. Your user profile will also be connected to your Volvo Cars app when you have paired it with the vehicle.

PIN code

A four-digit PIN code is automatically generated by Volvo support or by an authorized Volvo dealer and is sent to the vehicle owner. For security reasons, the PIN code is required when pairing the Volvo Cars app with the vehicle. If you buy a used vehicle or if you have lost your PIN code, you can request a new one.

Pairing the Volvo Cars app with your vehicle

In order to have access to the full range of functions in the Volvo Cars app you need a valid Volvo Cars app subscription (previously called Volvo On Call subscription) and you need to pair the app with your vehicle.
