The vehicle can be locked and unlocked using the remote control buttons, or keylessly with Passive Entry*. It is enough to have the key in a pocket or the like. It is also possible to lock and unlock the vehicle from inside and with the Volvo On Call app.
The remote key is not physically used to start the ignition because the vehicle is standard-equipped with keyless start (Passive Start). The key only needs to be in the front section of the passenger compartment. With keyless locking and unlocking (Passive Entry)*, the engine can be started with the key anywhere in the vehicle.
The keys can be linked to different driver profiles to store personal settings in the vehicle.
If you are not able to lock or unlock the vehicle using the remote key, the batteries may need to be replaced. The vehicle can be locked and unlocked using the detachable key blade.
For vehicles equipped with keyless locking and unlocking*, a smaller, lighter and button-less key is also provided (Key Tag).
A Red Key* (restricted key) makes it possible to set restrictions for some of the vehicle's functions, e.g. maximum speed and maximum audio system volume.
