Coast function with engine off
When the coast function is active, the engine can be temporarily switched off at high speeds. The function can help to reduce fuel consumption.
Activating the coast function
The vehicle needs to reach a speed of 45 km/h (27 mph) or higher.
Release the accelerator pedal.
The engine switches off and the vehicle rolls freely.
Note
If the coast function is not activated, it may be because the vehicle's functions, e.g. the climate system, do not allow it, or because the vehicle ahead is too close.
Deactivating the coast function
Do one of the following
- Depress the brake pedal.
- Pressing the accelerator pedal.
- Shift to manual gear selector position.
The engine starts.
Note that a screeching noise may occur when the engine is started by depressing the brake pedal, this noise has no effect on the car's functionality or performance.
