When the service is used, the guest user is given temporary access to Volvo On Call for the registered car so that the guest can, for example, make a booking and see the car's location on a map. The guest is also given temporary access to a Care Key, which must be located inside the car in order for the car to be started and driven.
A Care Key will be deactivated when it is locked inside the car. To reactivate it, the car must first be unlocked using either the unlock function in the Volvo On Call app or the unlocking buttons of another valid key. If the car is equipped with keyless entry, a Care Key will not be activated if the car is unlocked by pulling the door handle. Similarly, it will not be activated if someone breaks into your car without a valid key.
