Refueling your vehicle

It is important to use the correct fuel for your vehicle and to avoid spilling it.

 Important

Only use gasoline from well-known manufacturers. Never refuel your vehicle if you aren't sure about the quality.

Always use the correct gasoline. Even small amounts of the wrong type of fuel could damage the fuel system and engine.

Avoid spilling gasoline during refueling. In addition to causing damage to the environment, gasolines containing alcohol can cause damage to painted surfaces, which may not be covered under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty.

Turn off the vehicle and open the fuel filler flap by pressing the fuel button on the dashboard, next to the steering wheel.

Location of the fuel button

 Note

After you have opened the fuel filler flap, you must refuel within 15 minutes, otherwise the fuel filler opening closes. Press the fuel button again and wait until the instrument panel shows the Ready for refueling message.
Insert the pump nozzle into the fuel filler opening. The filler pipe has two opening caps. The pump nozzle must be pushed past both caps before refueling starts.

 Tip

Refueling from a gas can

If you are refueling from a gas can, be sure to use the funnel located in the foam block in the trunk's cargo hold.

Refuel your vehicle. Only fill the tank until the pump nozzle cuts out the first time.

 Note

Do not overfill the tank. An overfilled tank can overflow, especially in high temperatures and hot weather.
When you are done refueling your vehicle, gently press the flap to close it.
