 Important

Warranty not applicable

If engine oil of the prescribed grade and viscosity is not used, engine-related components may become damaged. Volvo does not accept any liability for such damage.

Check engine oil level

The car must only be used when the engine oil level is at the correct level. If the level is too low, the engine might become damaged.

You must only use engine oil of the prescribed quality, otherwise the recommended service intervals and warranty will not be applicable. Using engine oil with a different quality can also have a negative effect on your car's service life, starting characteristics, fuel consumption and environmental impact.

Volvo recommends:

Castrol Edge Professional label

All engines are filled at the factory with a specially-adapted synthetic engine oil that has been carefully selected. This is done to fulfil the requirements for the engine's service intervals.

Volvo recommends that oil changes are done by an authorised Volvo workshop.

Low oil pressure

Low oil pressure symbol

If you see this symbol in the driver display, the engine oil pressure might be low. Stop driving and recover the car to a workshop1.
