Your vehicle can automatically engage the parking brake in several situations. These include when:
- you select the parking gear, P, when stationary on a steep incline.
- your vehicle has been stationary in auto hold for a longer period of time.
- you leave you vehicle or turn it off while auto hold is active.
Tip
Automatic parking brake release
The parking brake is automatically released when you press the accelerator after selecting gear D or R. You must also have your seat belt buckled or the driver ' door closed.
Manually engaging the parking brake
After coming to a stop, pull the parking brake switch

Manually releasing the parking brake
Press the brake pedal firmly.
Push the parking brake switch .
.The parking brake is released, and the parking brake symbol in the instrument panel disappears.
