If you are experiencing issues with the wireless phone charger, there are some things you can try.
Before you charge your phone
Before using the wireless charger to charge your phone, there are some things to consider:
- Make sure that your vehicle has the latest software update.
- Some vehicles have a setting in the center display1 to turn on or off the charger. Make sure that the charger is activated before you intend to use it.
- Keep the charger free from other items.
- The charger is Qi certified and designed to charge Qi certified devices. For optimal charging, your phone should be Qi certified, but charging should be expected for any devices claiming to be compatible with the Qi standards.
- Remove any phone case as that might disturb the charging.
- Does your phone have an integrated magnet at the back? Any metal object close to the inductive charging coil will absorb the charging power and generate heat. To assure safe temperatures, the charging performance may be decreased when using these products. For specific details regarding your phone, please contact your phone's manufacturer.
- Some phones will not initiate wireless charging while connected via USB.
If your phone does not charge
If you've considered the items above and you've placed your phone in the middle of the charger but it does not charge, check the following:
- Lift up the phone and place it back down in the center of the charger.
- Does your phone come in an less common size? The charger is designed to give optimal charging for as many phones as possible, still, one size cannot fit them all. If your phone is small, try to always locate you phone in the center of the charger.
- Is your phone warm? It's normal for a phone to get warm during charging, but if it gets too hot, the phone turns off the charging. As the temperature decreases, charging will resume. Remember that also external heat sources, such as the sun shining on the charger while the vehicle is parked, can transfer heat to your phone which in turn will affect the charging. If you have several demanding functions active at the same time, such as Wi-Fi, Android Auto etc., your phone will most likely get warm quicker. Consider deactivating them before charging.
- Has the phone moved from the center of the charger while you're driving? Normally, the charging will resume after a few seconds, but if it doesn't, place it in the center of the charger again.
- When the vehicle searches for the remote control key, the wireless charging is interrupted for a few seconds. This happens:
- Approximately every 14 minutes.
- When a door is opened.
- With pure electric vehicles, when you enter the vehicle and hold your foot on the brake pedal while the gear selector is still in Park mode. The key search is then in progress until you switch to Drive mode.
- Disable NFC (Near Field Communication) if your device supports it.
