Subscription

To use the connected functions in the Volvo Cars app, the car requires a subscription for connected services. Your subscription includes emergency assistance and security services as well as app services.

Cars equipped with Google built-in are supplied with a subscription to digital services, which provides access to connected functions in the Volvo Cars app, as well as additional services. The subscription is valid for 4 years.

Status of subscription

The status of your subscriptions is shown in the Volvo Cars app, in the Px-2037-VOC app icon Profile tab under Subscription. The subscription for connected services can also be renewed from here.

If you do not have access to the Volvo Cars app, contact your dealer who will help you to find information on the expiry date of your subscription. You then need to state the car's identification number1.

Renew subscription for connected services

For information on how to renew your subscription for connected services, see Extending your subscription.

Deactivated subscription for connected services

When the subscription period has expired, you will receive a message in your car's display saying On Call deactivated (cars of model year 2011 or later only). This message disappears when the subscription is reactivated.

You will not be able to use connected services when your subscription has expired. However, the emergency services via the SOS button and automatic collision alert will continue to work for cars with an Internet connection. If you want to use connected services again, you have to renew your subscription, see 'Renew subscription' above.

 Note

Automatic collision notifications are only available for cars with an Internet connection and will stop working for certain cars after 2G and 3G have been phased out. This affects cars that do not have Google built-in. Certain cars of model years 2017-2024 may have an Internet connection after a software update. Cars with model year 2016 and earlier will lose all connected services.

Roadside Assistance costs

Roadside Assistance costs are included in the first X2 years when buying a new Volvo. After this time has passed, in most of the markets, Roadside Assistance is offered for free providing the car has been serviced regularly at an authorized Volvo workshop. An authorized Volvo workshop can inform you of the status of your Roadside Assistance agreement.

You can get help you get back on the road even if your Roadside Assistance agreement has expired. If this is the case, you will be asked to pay the cost for the service that is sent out to you.

 Note

If you do not have a valid road assistance agreement, additional recovery costs may apply.
