Distance alerts
Distance alerts can help you maintain a safe distance to vehicles ahead.
Distance alerts can be shown in the head-up display if the time interval to a detected vehicle ahead is shorter than recommended. This can help you to avoid driving too close to vehicles in front of you.
Warning
Never rely on distance alerts by the car to be a replacement for safe driving practices. Drive the car with the same attention to safety as required by a car without this feature.
Conditions and limitations
- Distance alerts are active at speeds above 30 km/h (20 mph) and can only react to vehicles ahead driving in the same direction as you are. They are not available when reversing.
- No distance information is provided for oncoming, slow or stationary vehicles.
- Distance alerts rely on detection by the front radar. Be sure to read the separate section of this manual about the limitations of radar detection.
- Extremely high driving speeds can cause the distance alerts to be delayed due to limitations in the front radar's detection range.
- If the front radar is obstructed, distance alerts are automatically disabled.
Note
Strong sunlight, reflections or high-contrast lighting can sometimes make the distance alerts hard to recognise. This can also happen if you are wearing sunglasses, as the alerts are shown using lights in the head-up display.
