From inside the car, the doors are opened using the handle on the door itself.
From outside the car, you open the doors using the door handles.
Driver door handle
There are two touch points on the outer door handle: the inner part and the small indentation on the side nearest the door pillar.

The inner part of the handle is used to open the door. This touch point will also unlock the door if you're carrying a distance-capable key.
The indentation marks where you can place your thumb or fingers to lock the door when closing it.
When you want to unlock and open the driver door but leave the other doors locked, enable the driver door unlock setting. When you open the driver door, use the inner part of the handle.
