Find supportThe Volvo V40 was known for its luxurious interior, which was also perceived as airy despite the compact format thanks to the panoramic roof. This was also a car that surprised its drivers with its quick and fuel-efficient driving experience, making it a strong contender both in the city and on the highways.
The Volvo V40’s design was widely appreciated upon its market debut. In keeping with Volvo Cars' long-standing design heritage, the focus was on subtle Scandinavian elegance, evident both inside and out. The hatchback style remained consistent throughout the years, however, with continuous refinements to its design. The car's appearance could lean towards a sportier or more rugged aesthetic, depending on the chosen trim level.
The Volvo V40 ensured a comfortable driving experience for both drivers and passengers alike. The ergonomically designed seats provide exceptional support, allowing for long journeys without discomfort. Despite its relatively compact size, the V40 easily accommodated a family and provided ample comfort for everyone inside the car, making it a popular choice among families.
Throughout its production years, the Volvo V40 offered a choice between petrol and diesel engines. The fuel-efficient engines received acclaim from drivers and experts alike for their economical fuel consumption and lively performance.
The Volvo V40 didn't aim to be a one-size-fits-all solution. Throughout its production, the car evolved to offer various trim levels, including Momentum, Inscription, R-Design, and Cross Country. Opting for the Momentum trim provided an elegant car equipped with advanced safety systems, such as City Safety, a 5" colour display for music control, and electronic climate control. The Inscription trim offered the ultimate in luxury for the V40, featuring premium material throughout. For those seeking a sportier feel, the R-Design trim offered a spirited driving experience characterised by style, responsiveness, and control. The Volvo V40 Cross Country was the obvious choice for those desiring an adventurous driving experience, featuring exclusive off-road-inspired features such as a unique cross-country lower front nose, grille, and rear diffuser, along with glossy black door mirrors, roof rails, and Copper Dawn interior trim.
One reason behind the Volvo V40's immense popularity was its advanced safety features. In 2012, the V40 was recommended by The European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) as Best in Class, just one of many safety accolades the car received over the years. Safety has always been a top priority for us at Volvo Cars. This focus is evident in the V40’s continuously evolving safety systems and continues to be a hallmark of all our new car models.
The Volvo V40 provided an enjoyable driving experience not only due to its comfort but also because of its popular in-car technology, including a Harman Kardon sound system, straightforward navigation displayed on the car's screen, and connectivity to Volvo On Call, which allows you to lock/unlock the car or check its status remotely.
