Air pollution and PM2.5 particles negatively affect the health of hundreds of millions of people worldwide, causing both short-term and long-term problems to people’s respiratory system, lungs, heart, brain, skin, and even children's intellectual and physical development. According to The World Health Organization (WHO), the standard safety limit for PM2.5 particles should not exceed 5 µg/m3 but in Thailand PM2.5 particles average 18.1 µg/m3. This is higher than the recommended limit and it poses a health risk.

Recently, air purifiers have become an essential devices for many people as they seek to filter out the dust and pollution in their homes. However, we can’t live inside our house and we must go outside. That is why Volvo is offering its customers improved air quality inside Volvo cars as the result of cutting-edge air purification technology that helps people breathe cleaner air throughout their journey.

When in a Volvo car, driver and passengers can now breathe cleaner air because of the advanced air purification technology. The air purifier is equipped with a PM2.5 sensor that constantly measures the level of PM2.5 particles in the cabin and shows the results on the central display, and drivers can even compare the PM2.5 levels in the cabin with those outside the car.

Advanced Filter Technology in Volvo 40 series models

An advanced nano technology filter can stop up to 80% of the PM2.5 particles from entering the cabin, protecting car occupants from air pollution while traveling. This filter also helps keep almost all pollen on the outside which is a great relief for all allergy sufferers.

Advanced Air Cleaner Technology in Volvo 60 and 90 series models

Experience even cleaner air, thanks to a synthetic fiber-based filter and ionization in Volvo Cars’ Advanced Air Cleaner, which keeps up to 95% of all PM 2.5 particles out of the cabin. Additionally, the Advanced Air Cleaner also brings relief to allergy sufferers by keeping almost all pollen on the outside of the cabin.

The Advanced Air Cleaner has been CERTIFIED asthma & allergy friendly by the Allergy Standards Limited (ASL) as it can remove up to 99.9% of grass, tree, and weed pollen allergens from incoming air.

Volvo has also taken steps to use materials that are both environmentally friendly and reduce the impact on personal health. This includes reducing the use of materials that may cause allergies, and even the smell inside the cabin to ensure that Volvo cars are the safest for everyone.
