2,000 sailors from throughout the world gathered in Crosshaven, Co. Cork last month to compete in Volvo Cork Week.
Sailors from as far away as the United States and Hong Kong travelled to the picturesque village of Crosshaven, home to the Royal Cork Yacht Club, to compete in the biennial sailing regatta.
The event was opened by An Taoiseach, Micheál Martin TD, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Simon Coveney TD, Volvo Car Ireland Managing Director, David Thomas and Royal Cork Yacht Club Admiral, Kieran O'Connell.
The week hosted several championship events, including the 1720 European Championships and the renowned Beaufort Cup for international uniformed service personnel, as well as a Family Fun Day with a Children's Marine Biology Workshop and a Ladies Lunch in aid of the RNLI.
Other events included a Family Fun Day with Children’s Workshop hosted by Marine Scientist Finn van der Aar and Ladies Lunch in aid of the RNLI with special guests & Volvo Car Brand Ambassadors Brendan Courtney and Amy Huberman.
