Alarm
The alarm is automatically enabled when you leave the car and it locks. It is automatically disabled when you approach the car and it unlocks.
Attempting to open a locked door triggers the alarm.
If the car is unlocked while the alarm is triggered, the alarm will stop immediately.
Note
Partially armed alarm
If the bonnet or the boot is not properly closed, the alarm will not be fully enabled. In these cases, the alarm will only protect the doors. It won't protect the open bonnet or boot, and the car won't detect any motion inside the car.
Locking the car with the boot open will lock all doors and set the alarm only for the closed doors. If you then close the boot hatch, it will lock and the alarm will also cover the boot, as normal.
Alarm triggered
The alarm triggers when an unauthorised attempt is made to open the bonnet, boot or any door. Movement inside the car can also trigger the alarm.
Unlocking the car while the alarm is triggered will stop any warning lights and alarm sounds.
- Triggering the alarm causes the alarm sound to start, and warning lights to flash.
- If whatever triggered the alarm is not resolved, the alarm cycle will restart several times over.
Tip
Alarm sensitivity
The alarm sensitivity can be lowered, which is especially useful if the car is parked on a ferry where it can be affected by external motion or vibrations.
