Account details

Adding a contact detail for Volvo ID account recovery

After you've created a Volvo ID account, it's good to add an additional contact detail to your account's personal details. This will allow you to recover your account if you lose access to the e-mail account or phone number you provided as your username when creating your Volvo ID. This also means that you won't need to create a new Volvo ID account and you'll be able to easily reset a forgotten password.

Changing your Volvo ID username or password

You can change your Volvo ID username or password via the Volvo Cars/Volvo EX30 app or via the Volvo website. To make these changes, you need to know your current login details. If you're having trouble signing in, read Issues related to Volvo ID instead.

Issues related to Volvo ID

Common issues related to Volvo ID, along with solutions, are described here.

Creating a Volvo ID

You need a Volvo ID to log in to the Volvo Cars/Volvo EX30 app. Create your Volvo ID via the app or via the Volvo website. The instructions for how to create your Volvo ID vary depending on car model and model year, so make sure to read the section that applies to your car.

Volvo ID

Volvo ID is a personal account that is used when you log in to the Volvo Cars/Volvo EX30 app. It consists of a username (phone number or e-mail address) and a password.

Two-factor authentication in the Volvo Cars/Volvo EX30 app

To protect your Volvo ID account from unauthorized users, two-factor authentication is required when logging in to the Volvo Cars/Volvo EX30 app. When you log in, you'll receive a one-time pin code via the e-mail address or phone number associated with your Volvo ID. Enter this code to verify your identity and gain access to the app.

Performing a factory reset of a pre-owned car

If the previous owner of your car has not removed their profiles and connected phones, a factory reset of the car is needed. You can do this yourself via the car's centre display or ask the previous owner to do it via the Volvo Cars/Volvo EX30 app.

Public charging payments

Payments for Volvo public charging service (VPCS) charging sessions can be managed from the Volvo Cars/Volvo EX30 app. The charging costs are automatically debited from your selected payment method on a monthly basis.

Registering a public charging account

Register a charging account in the Volvo Cars/Volvo EX30 app to easily find charging stations connected to the Volvo public charging service (VPCS) and to pay for your charging sessions.

Change of ownership with connected services

When changing ownership of a car with connected services, there are some steps that need to be taken to unlink the previous owner and give the new owner the option to pair the Volvo Cars app with the car.

Change of market when importing or relocating

When you import your car or move to another country, it is important to contact an authorised Volvo dealer to register for the new market. This ensures that the connected services which Volvo offers will work correctly.
