Powertrains

Choose from three powertrains. They all deliver an exceptionally smooth driving experience.

Single Motor
This powertrain balances performance and efficiency, making it great for daily commutes and errands. The rear motor and 51 kWh battery provide a consistent energy output for quiet, comfortable driving.

Single Motor Extended Range
This option combines the rear motor with a larger 69 kWh battery. This extends the SUV's range for longer and more frequent trips. An advanced inverter in the motor boosts efficiency so that you can drive further on a single charge.

Twin Motor Performance
With front and rear motors, this powertrain maximises the larger 69 kWh battery for instant torque from a standstill, seamless acceleration and enhanced all-wheel drive stability. This powertrain defaults to rear-wheel drive for efficiency but uses both motors for grip and stability when needed. Manually turn on Performance All-wheel Drive mode for continuous use.

One pedal drive
All powertrain options include one pedal drive to improve efficiency and make driving smoother. Speed up or slow down using just the accelerator. Keep your foot off, and the car will brake to a standstill.

Battery Charging Duration

Charge your EX30 from 10 to 80 per cent from 26 minutes at DC fast charging stations.

Charging reminder
Get charging reminders when the battery drops to 20 per cent. The centre display shows nearby charging stations on Google Maps, along with navigation and estimated charge levels on arrival.

Battery pre-conditioning
Select a charging station as your destination, and the car can heat or cool the battery before you arrive. Pre-conditioning the battery can ensure it reaches the optimal temperature for charging, so you spend less time waiting at the station.

This figure is the typical time to charge from 10 to 80 per cent at a 175kW DC fast charging station. Figures are preliminary and derived from estimates and calculations performed for the Volvo EX30. These outcomes are not guaranteed. Charging times can vary and depend on factors such as outdoor temperature, battery temperature, charging equipment, battery condition and car condition. Vehicle certification pending.

Battery energy (nominal)

The powertrain you choose determines the battery in your EX30. Battery capacity impacts range and charging times.

The Single Motor powertrain uses a 51 kWh battery. Its unique chemical composition benefits from regular charging up to 100 per cent, unlike most batteries in our fully electric cars.

The Single Motor Extended Range and Twin Motor Performance powertrains use a 69 kWh battery. We suggest charging to 90 per cent for daily driving, our standard recommendation for the best battery life.
