We recently unveiled a new iteration of our flagship SUV, the Volvo XC90. This refreshed version of our popular model builds on its existing strengths, enhancing what was already an impressive car.

Based on the experiences of 38 influencers at a Volvo expert-led introduction and test drive, the latest predicted residual value figures show promising improvements.

Better than ever before

With countless accolades to its name since 2016, including recent recognition for its safety credentials from US testing authority IIHS, and Autotrader’s award for the UK’s best seven-seater in 2024, the XC90 has consistently impressed both critics and drivers.

Yet at Volvo Cars, we believe in constant improvement. We've listened to our users and have dedicated ourselves to making one of the best cars we’ve ever created even better.

New design: One of the first things you'll notice is the new XC90’s fresh exterior design that reinforces its confident appearance while also reflecting our journey towards electrification. Inside, as well as a redesigned front fascia and new upholstery options, we’ve made the car easier to live with. The wireless phone charger is positioned more conveniently and we’ve added a new, smaller cupholder for those slim drink cans that can otherwise rattle around.

A new user experience: When you sit in the car, you'll be greeted by a larger touchscreen with higher resolution, and the latest user experience from Volvo Cars' newest electric vehicles. With more key functions now displayed on the home screen, you can make calls and change tracks without leaving navigation – and get to the other places you most often need to be in fewer taps. And it’s designed to get better over time, with over-the-air software updates. This new user experience will be rolled out to approximately 2.5 million existing Volvo cars with the Android-based operating system (in most markets, cars with Google built-in) via an over-the-air update in 2025.

We've listened to our users and have dedicated ourselves to making one of the best cars we’ve ever created even better.

Enhanced comfort: The new Volvo XC90 is even more comfortable than ever before, thanks partly to a new standard suspension setup where each damper can mechanically adapt to current road conditions for better comfort and stability. Additional sound insulation has also been applied to parts of the car’s structure, alongside the option of laminated side windows, for extra peace and quiet.

Improved standard offer: Every new XC90 will come with matrix LED headlamps, tailored materials on the instrument panel, premium interior illumination and a wireless phone charger.

Residual value projections

Residual values can vary depending on the market and who is forecasting. For an indication of the direction of travel, here is a snapshot from some residual value guidebooks in different markets.

DAT, a leading automotive data provider in Germany, reports promising improvements in the XC90's residual value. Projections indicate a residual value increase of up to 2.5 per cent – or on average 1,750 EUR, at 36 month and 60,000km compared to the previous model year.*

Solera - cap hpi, a leading residual value guidebook in the UK market, has come to a similar conclusion. Its residual value forecast for the new XC90 has increased by up to 3.2 per cent compared to the outgoing XC90 – or around 1,800 GBP, at 36 month and 40,000 miles in total.*

Autovista in France conclude that the new XC90 will have on average 2,000 EUR higher residual value at 36 months and 60,000km in total.*

“These figures show how the improvements we’ve made to the new XC90 are driving its future value,” said Marc Schomburg, Residual Value Manager at Volvo Cars. “The car not only looks more contemporary, but is also easier to use and more comfortable than ever – all of which help demand on the used car market.”
