
With a digital key, your car can recognise your phone and automatically unlock or lock the doors when you approach or leave the car. It also lets you lock and unlock the car via your phone's wallet app or by using your phone as a key card.
To start your car using the digital key, bring it with you inside the car or place it on the wireless charger.
Note
- Some devices might not be compatible with the digital key. If you're not sure if your device supports digital keys, check with your phone's manufacturer.
- If your phone doesn't have UWB1 capability, it isn't distance-capable and can only be used as a key card.
Owner key
The car owner can share their digital key with family and friends. They can also delete any shared keys at any time.
The owner can also share their digital key to another compatible device or move their main digital key to another device, for example when getting a new phone.
Digital key on a device with a flat battery
Your digital key may still work for a while even after the device that it's on has run out of battery.
Whether you can use your digital key when your device has a flat battery depends on how the key is set up in the wallet app. Contact the device's manufacturer for more information.

Note
Sometimes, signal interference may affect distance-capability functions.
If a digital key appears to not be working as intended, try restarting your phone or turn Bluetooth off and on. If you still experience issues, contact Volvo support.

- your car and phone are updated to the latest software version
- any required access settings are selected.
