Locking and unlocking with the remote control key
The buttons on the remote control key can be used to lock and unlock all doors and the boot lid simultaneously.
Locking with the remote control key
For the lock sequence to be activated, the driver door must be closed1. If any of the other doors or the boot lid are open, these are locked and alarmed* only when they are closed. The alarm's movement detectors* are activated when all the doors and the boot lid are closed and locked.
Note
Be aware of the risk of locking the remote control key in the car.
- A remote control key or key tag left in the car will be deactivated when the car is locked and the alarm is armed using another valid key. The "Double lock" function is also deactivated. The key left behind is reactivated when the car is unlocked.
- A Red Key left in the car will be deactivated even when the car is locked using Volvo On Call, and reactivated when the car is unlocked using Volvo On Call or with another valid key.

Automatic relocking
If none of the doors or the boot lid is opened within 2 minutes of unlocking, they are locked automatically. This function prevents the car from being left unlocked unintentionally.
When the remote control key does not work
Note
If it is not possible to lock or unlock with the remote control key, the battery may be discharged - in which case, lock or unlock the driver's door with the detachable key blade.
