Volvo Car Malaysia was invited to participate in the Pioneer the Possible – Green Mobility and Transport Forum where we reaffirmed our commitment to electrification and our ambition of transforming Malaysia into an electric vehicle hub in ASEAN.
The event was organised by Business Sweden in Malaysia and is part of a long-term sustainability platform promoting collaboration and innovation in green transition. It brought together Swedish and Malaysian businesses as well as stakeholders to share knowledge and best practices to accelerate the shift to green mobility and transport.
Charles Frump, Managing Director of Volvo Car Malaysia, was invited to speak at the forum to discuss about the future of mobility. “With the launch of our Volvo XC40 Recharge Pure Electric and C40 Recharge Pure Electric, we have solidified our position as the leading mover in the e-luxury segment. We are the first automotive brand in the country to have a complete plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) line-up for all car models, attributed to our own local assembly plant. This plant also enabled us to be Malaysia’s first car manufacturer to offer locally assembled electric vehicles and thereon establish ourselves as the hub to export fully electric vehicles within the ASEAN region,” said Frump.
Earlier this year, we announced the latest step forward in our electrification ambitions to transform Malaysia into an electric vehicle hub with new exportations expected to Vietnam and the Philippines, with deliveries to Indonesia since 2022.
Frump added: “At Volvo, we believe the future is electric. The superior driving experience aside, an electric vehicle ownership signifies a commitment to the environment and a lifestyle change for the betterment of the future. Thanks to the Government’s investment and effort in promoting electric vehicles in Malaysia, we foresee more luxury automotive makers to make the journey into electrification.”
With the capabilities of assembling electric vehicles locally, Volvo Car Malaysia’s local assembly plant provides an excellent opportunity to assert our position as a leading premium electric car maker and drive Malaysians further towards an all-electric future.
