Shifting before start up procedure
If you change gears from P (Park) to D (Drive) or R (Reverse) very quickly after the car has started, the gear might shift back to P automatically.
This can happen if you change gear before the car has finished its start-up process. The intended gear will initially be displayed in the driver display, but the car will not change gear from P.
Error during car start up session
If one of the car’s systems reports an error during the car’s start-up procedure, the gear might automatically shift back to P. The shift back to P is done purposely and for safety reasons, to prevent the car from being put in motion. The intended gear will initially be displayed in the driver display, but the car will not change gear from P.
Solution
If these situations occur, turn the car off and wait a short while before starting it up again. Make sure to give the car time to start up properly before changing gear from P.
