Volvo Cars Hällered

Hällered Proving Ground is owned by Volvo Cars and is a comprehensive vehicle testing facility located in southwestern Sweden, just north of Borås approx. 80 km from Gothenburg. Surrounded by beautiful forests, it’s initially a tranquil and peaceful place. However, as you venture deeper into the woods, you’ll encounter the track known as “Car Hell” – that’s Hällered.

This is the place where Volvo Cars are made to suffer around the clock, seven days a week, in extraordinarily tough conditions. At the test facility, everything a Volvo car can be facing up to during its long life time is tested. In only a few months the cars are aged as much as during the entire anticipated lifetime of the vehicles in ordinary traffic circumstances. A total of approximately 250 people work at Hällered Proving Ground setting up test vehicles, conducting test drives, performing laboratory tests and evaluating test results. The facility’s own maintenance organization provides service and maintenance for the area and buildings.
