Extended Warranty Insurance

Extended Warranty Insurance covers the cost of fixing or replacing manufacturing defects in your Volvo car. Learn how it works and if your car is eligible.

How does it work?

Choose between a 12- or 24-month warranty extension, which will activate once your current warranty expires. Facilitated through our trusted insurance provider, Helvetia, our Extended Warranty Insurance (EWI) covers the cost of the required labour, the mechanical and electrical parts, and any necessary oil seals during the repair process of manufacturing defects. All repairs will be performed in a Volvo-authorised workshop using Genuine Volvo Parts. (Note that EWI doesn't cover your car's lithium-ion battery, as it has its own special warranty.)

Eligibility criteria

You can get EWI if your car meets all four of the following criteria:

  1. It is currently covered under a valid warranty. *
  2. It is less than five years old.
  3. It has travelled less than 150,000km.
  4. It is for personal use only.

Unfortunately, we cannot currently provide this type of coverage if you use your Volvo car as a commercial vehicle. This includes Taxis, Ubers and Hire for Reward or Utility vehicles. Please refer to the Extended Warranty Insurance Terms and Conditions for detailed information.  * For a full list of valid warranties, please check the Extended Warranty Insurance Terms and Conditions.

Changing your policy

Once you have purchased the Extended Warranty Insurance, it’s not possible to adjust the length of your policy. You can, however, request to cancel it or transfer ownership if you sell your car.

Car financing and Extended Warranty Insurance

If you finance your car, it’s not possible to add the cost of the EWI to the total cost of your car. The insurance is considered a separate purchase.
