Sustainable mobility in focus at Fleet Europe Days 2024

What is the talk of the day in fleet business? Electrification and sustainable mobility, topics close to heart for Volvo Cars, are still in focus, as well as telematics and digital enablers for more efficient fleet management.

The fully electric Volvo EX90 was exhibited at the Fleet Europe Days 2024.

This year’s Fleet Europe Days was held in Milan in October – an international conference for fleet and mobility managers. It is the largest annual event organized in Europe, where industry leaders and fleet managers deliver detailed insights into the current state of the fleet market as well as clear visions of the future.

“The event offered many engaging sessions, where the road to more electrified fleets was a dominant theme”, says Joanne Machin, Director Global Major Accounts at Volvo Cars Fleet and Business Sales. “It is also a great opportunity to meet and talk to many of our existing fleet customers and potential new ones.”

“The drive is there and we see a big interest for our BEV offer, but also for our other alternatives for customers who need hybrid options”, says Joanne.

Shared commitment towards electrification
Electrification is a focal point within the fleet market. The conference held several discussions on the transition to electric fleets, alternative fuel integration, and sustainable fleet strategies. These topics are high up on the agenda for fleet managers across the world. The pace of electrification will however differ. Many manufacturers envision the path towards sustainable mobility to be a mixture of both PHEVs and BEVs. “The drive is there and we see a big interest for our BEV offer, but also for our other alternatives for customers who need hybrid options”, says Joanne.

Corporate mobility in the digital age
Another topic that was in focus, and came up frequently in our discussions with the conference participants, was telematics in general and our offer in this area in particular. Managing a fleet of cars effectively and precisely is important for several reasons. Access to real-time data on your cars can help optimize your fleet, maximize efficiency and reduce operational costs. Volvo Cars' recently launched embedded telematics solution allows fleet managers to directly access real-time data such as odometer readings, fuel levels, battery status, and car health. This can be done in their chosen fleet management portal without the necessity for additional hardware. It is available for all our current and future car models.

Volvo EX90 in the spotlight
Volvo Cars attended the summit to meet partners and prospects within the fleet network along with presenting the new, fully electric Volvo EX90 – our premium 7-seater SUV.

“We experienced a big interest overall for Volvo Cars and the journey we are on and had a lot of positive and inspiring conversations with both existing partners and potential new ones. The car was complimented on its beautiful design and interior comfort, and there were many curious questions around the stats of that car, like range, charging time, power and acceleration. These are of course always of high interest, especially for larger electric cars, and it’s nice to see people impressed by what the Volvo EX90 can deliver”, says Agneta Jildén, Commercial Lead EX90.

“Volvo EX90 is an exciting launch for us as it defines a new era for safety and technology, thus combining two major core values of Volvo Cars – safety and sustainability. And it is more than just a new car. The EX90 is designed to be our safest Volvo car to date, it is a redefinition of premium from a digital and technological perspective, and a radical evolution from hardware driven machines to software defined mobility solutions”, concludes Agneta.
