Digital key

You can lock, unlock and start the car by using your phone as a digital key. The digital key is stored in your phone's wallet app.

A digital key lets you passively lock and unlock the car from a short distance away. It also provides you with a manual lock and unlock button in your phone's wallet.

The digital key can also be used as a key card via NFC1. This works even if your phone's battery is flat.

 Note

  • Not all devices are compatible with the digital key.
  • If your phone doesn't have UWB2 capability, it isn't distance-capable and can only be used as a key card.

Owner key

The car owner can share their digital key with family and friends. They can also delete any shared keys at any time.

The owner can also share their digital key to another compatible device or move their main digital key to another device, for example when getting a new phone.

 Note

Sometimes, signal interference may affect distance-capability functions.

If a digital key appears to not be working as intended, try restarting your phone or turn Bluetooth off and on. If you still experience issues, contact Volvo support.

 Tip

In case of any issues with using your digital key, keep a key card close to hand.
