Integrated child seat

Your car has an integrated child seat on the centre rear seat. This can be folded up or down to allow children to sit safely and comfortably.

The child seat is specifically designed with a child's safety needs in mind.

Before you drive with a child in the integrated child seat, make sure:
  • that the child seat is safely locked into place.
  • that the headrest is adjusted to the child's height.
  • you've read and follow all the information about safety in this manual, especially the sections about child safety, proper seating and seatbelt use.

The integrated child seat is approved for children who weigh up to 36 kg and who are 106-145 cm in height. The child seat is not recommended for children less than 4 years old.

 Warning

Do not modify or repair yourself

Volvo recommends that repair or replacement of the integrated child seat is only performed by an authorised Volvo workshop. Do not make any modifications or additions to the child seat. If an integrated child seat has been subjected to a heavy load, e.g. in connection with a collision, then the seat cushion, seatbelt, backrest, or possibly the whole seat, must be replaced. Even if the child seat appears to be undamaged, it may not provide the same level of protection. This also applies if the child seat was in lowered position during a collision or similar. The child seat must also be replaced if it is heavily worn.

Follow the instructions

Take extra care to follow the instructions for the integrated child seat. If you do not, the child could sustain serious injury in the event of an accident.

 Important

Local regulations

Regulations on where and how children should be seated and secured differ between regions. Make sure that you know what applies to the region you are in.

 Note

The integrated child seat is approved according to regulation UN R129/03 as a specific vehicle booster seat.
