Upgrading your car with Performance mode

It is now possible to upgrade your Twin Motor1 with Performance mode. Add Performance mode to your Twin Motor to get faster acceleration and more power with a single setting. The Performance mode upgrade is a software offer and you can purchase it in the Volvo Cars app.

The upgrade increases the maximum power of the Twin Motor from 300 kW (408 metric hp) to 325 kW (442 metric hp) and reduces the acceleration time for 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) to 4.6 seconds.

The upgrade also includes a new Performance drive mode that changes the mapping of the accelerator pedal to give a much quicker response, while more torque is distributed to the front wheels. This provides a more responsive and agile driving experience compared to the Standard drive mode.

 Note

Once you have purchased the upgrade in the Volvo Cars app, you will receive instructions on how to complete it. The installation process is the same as for a normal OTA update.

Activating and deactivating Performance drive mode

You can activate or deactivate the Performance drive mode in the centre display.
Go to iCup-2037-Settings symbol > Driving.
Activate or deactivate Performance.

The Standard drive mode is the default setting when you start your car due to legal requirements. This means that the Performance drive mode will be deactivated between drives.

EC40 (Twin Motor), model year 2025 and later

EX40 (Twin Motor), model year 2025 and later

XC40 Recharge Pure Electric (Twin Motor), model year 2024
