When changing ownership of a car with connected services, there are some steps that need to be taken to unlink the previous owner and give the new owner the option to pair the Volvo Cars app with the car.
Selling your car
If you sell your car, you should take the following steps:
Unpair the Volvo Cars app.
Perform a factory reset in the centre display.
Buying a car equipped with connected services
If you buy a used car, you should take the following steps:
Contact a Volvo dealer for assistance to transfer remaining time from the previous owner's subscription for connected services. An extension will need to be purchased if the subscription has expired. The Volvo dealer automatically generates a PIN code1 via email or SMS. Keep the PIN code in a safe place.
Pair the Volvo Cars app with the car.
